If there's any preference it's half to the left, half to the right.
12.0.9S is very ancient as such things go, you should get up to at
least 12.0.14S or .16S, .17S should be fine, although there were
rumors of resurfacing dCEF bugs.
Nothing you're doing should be straining the router's performance
it's just a matter of dodging bugs with your name on them...
