12.1E for 7206 for "current" or 12.0S for "stability", just depends on
whether you want/need any of the 12.1 features. Both are pretty solid.

12.0S does support dot1q, but only fast cached, CEF support doesn't
seem to kick in except in 12.1T and 12.2, this is only critical if
you're moving 50-100mbit/s traffic around
