You can combine both things (attach a router interface to an trunk port of a
switch with VLANs ) if your router support these kind of commands:
interface FastEthernet0/0.1
encapsulation isl 1
ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
no ip redirects
!
interface FastEthernet0/0.2
encapsulation isl 2
ip address 2.2.2.1 255.255.255.0
no ip redirects
!
....

I think that you can't work with vlans in a router, you need a switch to do
it.
You can add a module to routing in a switch.
