[nsp] Sudden loss of routability on a still connected WAN link

We have a 4000M router which has a PRI module and is running IOS 11.2(5).
Several remote LANs dial into this central router. Things seem fine for the
most part, but twice now, a remote router will be unreachable (can't be
pinged) even though it seems to be still connected. Dropping the connection
and re-establishing it returns the router to normal functionality.

What might the problem be? Where is the best place to begin troubleshooting
this?
