Hi,
You're in luck, not only are these commands not hidden, but
there are a number of different options.

request chassis routing-engine master ?

gives you the straight dope.

If you are running 4.2 or later, check out "req system routing-engine ?",
the special "groups" re0 and re1, automated fail-over, and the ability
to copy files between routing engines.
