Hello,
Maybe someone of you knows some trick how to turn an optical interface off
physically (i.e. shutdown its transmitting laser) on the Juniper routers.
Seems an easy question? Not ...
Unlike Cisco routers, where "interface bla-bla -> shutdown" does the job
correctly and affects the interface electronics to switch the interface
off - Junipers don't do it! If you just do "interface bla-bla -> disable"
the interface will appear to be "administratively down", its subinterfaces
will go down (which is ok), but the interface device itself will remain
alive - the light will still stay on and it will even show all SDH/SONET
alarms that might occur.
On M40's and smaller - I can turn a particular PIC off, but not on M160's.
Any clue?
Thaks a lot!
Regards,
Beri
