Guy's got it right - Jeff and I edited the work of seventeen authors (Jeff
wrote the chapter on RIP in addition to his editing duties). This is pretty
clear on the Jacket cover, but not on the Amazon, B&N, or other web sites,
despite my repeated attempts to correct them. Only last week did Amazon
finally replace the cover mockup graphic (which mentioned our coverage of
IGRP!) with the correct one.
Anyway, it's a misnomer to call it "Doyle's", "Kolon's", or anyone else's
book. It was a big, complicated, and unwieldy (1000pp) project that - while
not perfect - I think nevertheless produced a pretty good reference for
those trying to find their way around Juniper Networks technology. It's an
entry- to mid-level book, for the most part - those looking for detailed
information on the more esoteric aspects of JUNOS (even some less-esoteric
things we just couldn't fit in: Mcast, IPv6) are going to have to wait for
the next volume (there are no plans for that yet...)
That being said, though, there is some fantastic writing in the book, and I
think that you'll find some important contributions to the routing
literature scattered throughout. We will leave it to you folks to decide
where those all are... ;^)
