According to the M20, its setting the subnet mask in its hello packet to
all 0's. If this is the case it will not make it past init.
Not necessarily true--the spec says that the receiver should ignore
the netmask on point-to-point links (unless it is has a bug that's
complementary to the one in the M20, which I'm suspecting to be the
case.)
