Can any of you HP guys help me get an obsolete part? I have an HP 8601A
signal generator I use for old radio alignment. It used to be a wonderful
instrument but the RF output amp failed. It is HP part number 5086-7112
and is a hybrid IC in a hermetic metal can. HP has obsoleted it out. The
used instrument company where I bought the generator just a few years ago
refuses to sell me a replacement part and they want big bucks just to
look at it. I already know what's wrong and all I need is one part. They
did generously offer to sell me a junker for parts at $195 with no
guarantee the part I need is good or even still there.
