        "DSC" stands for double silk cover.  There is also SSC (single
silk cover), DCC (double cotton cover), and SCC (single cotton cover).

        It used to be common to use cloth covers for RF and IF coils,
supposedly because the varnish used to keep the wire in place would
hold better.  You can still find it used on Litz wire in high-Q pot
core inductors.
