NC-300--NC-303

Several times in the last few months I have seen comments
on these lists to the effect that the NC-303 is inferior to
the NC-300.  Is this true?  If so, why?
I've checked all the reference books I have and the only difference
I can see is that the 303 has two more tubes and the 300's crystal
filter has been replaced by a Q multiplier.
I want to buy (or trade for) one of these receivers and would like
to get the better of the two.  National didn't make the changes to
cut the price because the 303 was more expensive.  Comments welcome.
