Tempo 1 and CTCSS tones?

Well, since no one has really answered your question about the way
YOU want to do it....
I will say this - IF the Tempo S1 (note this is an S1 NOT a Tempo 1
which is an HF xcvr!!) - IF it has a MIC jack on the HT then you can
inject the tone in a SUMMING circuit along with microphone
audio and IF the HT does not filter out audio below 300 Hz like
some rigs do, THEN you will get your CTCSS tone in there, and yes, I
think it has to be there all of the time. The deviation level should
be set alittle lower than your voice audio. I think this would be
do-able with an appropriate cable from the sound card output, and
that would have to drop the level considerably.
Do you know how to make resistve divider networks (a T pad or L pad
circuit will do it nicely)??
If so you can connect this to the MIC input and SEE if it works.
If NOT, then you will have to patch in to the deviation stage after
the a.f. amplifiers and that could get VERY tricky.
If you are not accustomed to piddling with tiny electronic gizmos,
then I do not recommend that you try any of the above OR the other
suggestions that were made. Only an experienced electronics tech
should take a soldering iron to the insides of a handy-talky! Trust
me on that one!
