Splicing #17-A Coax.

Gentlemen; Do to the distance from my listening post to my antenna farm,
I am running #17 coax from the site to the post.( I also want to be able
to carry UHF and VHF as well as HF.) I have three chunks of cable and
lots of terminators,(to "n" connector,) but nothing to splice with. I
was figuring on butt splicing the center conductor and soldering the
braid, (before shrink tubing the outer insulation.)  What I am in the
dark on is what to insulate the center conductor from the braid with? I
was thinking of using electrical tape. Any input? Thanks, Kevin
