30L-1 Control Relay Problems

A friend of mine has a 30L-1 that functions properly for the first 10-15
minutes of operation. In other words, his exciter keys the linear correctly in
the transmit mode. After 10-15 minutes of operation, the xmit/receive relay in
the 30L-1 ceases to operate when keyed by the exciter. We have confirmed that
the exciter control relay is providing circuit closure (to gnd). I have seen
the opposite happen when one of the 811A's develops an internal short, it
causes the 30L-1 relay to pull-in (go into the xmit mode) while the linear is
really in standby (rcv), but I have not run across this problem before. The
170 volts is still on the relay when it fails to function. Any thoughts would
be appreciated .
Thanks and 73,
