Tunable Filters

Back in the days when the world was young, some radios has tunable front
end filters which consisted of a series of loosely coupled tunable LC
tanks. I vaguely recall names like "Cohn Filters" or such. Does anyone
know of a publication describing how these were designed, or have actual
designs for these things?

I have looked through about 30 random books from the 30's, 40's, and 50's,
and have found no mention of these circuits, besides one sketchy diagram
from a '73 issue of 73 (which was shown for historical interest only).

Thanks, Brian KD6TLA
