I have here a 1934 THOR 5 tube, plug in coil, superhet shortwave project set.
I am trying to identify the missing power transformer from a copy of the
assembly instructions which has a list of parts and schematic. The transformer
is listed as type: UM-4. Does anyone recognize the manufacturer by this
number? The transformer is a small horizontal mount with center tapped 2.5v
and 5.0v filament windings, and center tapped sec. The THOR was designed by
Robert G. Herzog and sold as a kit for 14.95 by the THOR RADIO CORP.; 167
Greenwich Ave.; NY, NY. Greenwich Ave. was in an area on the southern tip of
Manhattan Island known as "Radio Row", an area rich in early radio history.
The world Trade Center is on that site now. Thanks, Greg WA1KBQ
