I subscribe to a number of different mailing lists and it's interesting how
the SAME kind of eBay questions/discussions surface on the various lists!

The latest was a fountain pen (I collect fountain pens) that was bid up and
the "fountain pen price police" swung into action with somebody even
advising the bidder that he was overbidding or potentially overpaying for
the item.

My read on the situation?   --  Let the market be the market.  There's no
explaining prices.
