WWV rumble

        Jeff,

        The rumble on WWV is a 100 Hz sub-carrier used to carry digital
        data that forms a time code. I think its an IRIG code but not
        IRIG-B. It gives the year, day, minutes & seconds plus the
        difference between UT1 (GMT) and UTC. The US National Institute
        of Standards has two publications that describe this & other
        facets of the Time Signal broadcasts. One used to be called
        Technical Note 668. Hope this helps.
