Scope use

Greetings to all,

I recently started to use a scope on my AM station. By using the sample
patterns and test tone, I seem to be getting textbook patters. However,
I don`t know how to recognize negative peaks from positive peaks. Can
some of you enlighten me. I`m talking Plate Modulation.
