Opinions of GSB-100...

Hi, Dave: I think you'll enjoy using the GSB-100, especially with the
NC-300. My main rig in the late 60s was a GSB-100 coupled with a
Hallicrafters SX-101 Mark IV. Later I acquired the matching Gonset
Linear Amp, and had a rather formidable statiowith this combination.

In 1993, I acquired a basket-case GSB-100 from the same store where I
bought the first one ($50 plus $35 shipping!). This was a repairable
unit, less the crystal set. Cost me $200 in parts to refurbish it,
correcting some sloppy earlier repairs and modifications. Had intended
to get another SX-101 and amp to recreate my 60s station, but let a
newbie ham talk me into selling it to him instead.

When you dig intothe manual, you'll see it is a very well designed rig,
using a combination of phasing and filter methodology. The only fault I
ever found with it was that the phasing has to be nulled about every six
months or so, but this is easy and quick to do, and I didn't really
consider it a fault.

Enjoy!

73, Keith
