The equasion for determining the impedance of a coaxial line is:
Zo = 138/ square root of k times log D/d
where k is the dielectric constant of the insulator,
D is the inside diameter of the outer conductor
d is the outer diameter of the inner conductor.
Zo is the characteristic impedance.
Most folks just look up the impedance in the manufacturers catalog.
A 50 ohm line with a short section of 70 ohms in the middle is a much
bigger issue when the signal is just a few millivolts. In weak signal
areas a couple dB of loss can make all the difference.
