AN/GRN-9 TACAN Set. Fixed radio beacon. Provides both azimuth and
distance information to aircraft. Operates on frequencies between 962
MHz to 1213 MHz. Peak power output is 5 KW minimum, with maximum
practical range of 195 nautical miles. Similar to AN/URN-3 TACAN Set.
Reference T.O. 31R4-GRN9 series. AN/GRN-9A, B, and C are similar except
have higher power output of 7.5 KW. Obsolete; replaced by solid-state
equipment.
