One piece of gear I picked up at Rock Hill I failed to mention, a Waterman
Products Pocketscope. This is a late '40s - mid 50s looking small o'scope
with a 1 1/2" tube. I got it from a retired Zenith TV repairman/ham who
said he carried it in his tool kit back in the '50s. The first thing he
said he would do on a service call was turn it on and get a nice 60cps hum
displayed on the tube for the benefit on the customer. Later on in the call
he'd connect it across the speaker. Never failed to impress 'em he said.
It'll look nice with my SX-28 and NC-183D.
Does anyone have any info on the little guy? Unfortunately the fellow who
sold it didn't have the manual anymore but wanted to make sure it got a
good home. I was told it worked but haven't had time to do anything but
clean it up. It is nearly flawless on the outside but I'll take my time in
powering it up. It seems I've seen ads for a similar piece in 40s or 50s
QST.
Thanks and 73,
Rick kf4ar
