AR-88LF Restoration project - Questions

Hello everyone,

I am about to begin restoration of a recently acquired RCA AR-88LF. Two
questions have come up:

1) Every AR-88 I've seen has had a very dingy-looking chassis. Most
radios I've restored have had chassis made out of stamped aluminum which
were fairly easy to clean. I don't know what the AR-88 chassis are made
of but they sure do look bad. Has anyone found an effective way to
clean/shine the chassis of the RCA AR-88 series?

2) There is a rather ratty-looking oil filled capacitor, rated at .033
MFD at 1000 volts. What should I replace this with? It looks just like
an old axial-lead electrolytic.

Regards to all,
