Hello & Happy Holidays to all lovers of Ol' Radios and Radio history.
What with just a little more than a week left in 1999 and dawning
of 2000 (I'm not going to say anything about the millenium since
I still don't agree that the 20th Century ends with 1999).
There has been a lot of discussion lately in the popular press
and media about the "Best, most important" person, development, etc.
of the century. I got to thinking about "Who" and "What" were the most
important person and Radio in the 20th century.
I think in aviation circles the Douglas DC-3 is considered the most
important airplane ever built. Well what was the most important "Radio"
in the 20th century? And why?
Also, who was the most important person in the field of radio in the
20th century?
I'm still thinking about which radio was the most important, but I already
know who I believe was the most important person in radio, I think
it has to be Edwin Armstrong the inventor of the regen detector, the
Super-Het and FM.
I really like to from you, I will attempt to boil all the responses down
and post them back ton the lists. If there enough comments I'll
do a "Top 10" of radio.
Again, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, and Happy Collecting
73,
Ron
