Help on Really Old Tubes

Dave, have you tried looking up just 71A, 01A, 00A and 40 on the chart?
Back "in the olden days" up 'til around 1926 or '27 (somebody knows the
exact date I imagine) the very first digit simply designated the
manufacturer, e.g., '1' == GE, '2' == RCA, '3' == Cunningham and (I think)
'4' == Deforest. My memory is a bit fuzzy on these as I've not studied the
numbering for a half-decade or longer and I know my notes on the subject
are still deeply buried from our recent move to this house. Maybe one of
the other list members can take it from here . . .
