6550 brands for RF?

[Floyd Sense]

I understand that U.S. brands of 6550s such as GE are preferred for RF use
in rigs like the 100V/200V.  What's the reason for that and are any of the
6550 follow ons like the KT-88, etc. workable?   What about the SOVTEK
6550s?
