Gonset G50 Question

I recently received a Gonset G-50, 6 meter rig.  In checking it out before
powering up, I found a wiring change on the screen of the 6AQ5 frequency
doubler.  Instead of a 1000 ohm, 1 watt resistor connected from the screen
grid to R9, the wirewound 2400 ohm, 8 watt dropping resistor, I found in
its place a voltage divider of two 20 Kohm resistors from R9 to ground,
with the connection to the screen taken at the junction of the two 20 Kohm
voltage divider resistors.  Can anyone tell me whether this was a Gonset
modification or another working mod. or should I restore it to the original
schematic configuration?
