Why repaint?

Why not?

Look, it all comes down to what YOU want to do. YOU own the piece of
equipment in question. If you want character, leave it alone. If you want
factory-fresh, then get it PROPERLY restored. If you want to butcher up
YOUR radio with a bad paint job, do it.

It isn't anybody's business to tell anyone they must or mustn't restore.
Nor is it anybody's job to tell anyone not to do a ham-fisted,
my-blind-friend-could-do-a-better-job-with-crayons restoration. Though I
would hope pride of ownership would kick in there.

Please, people, live and let live.
