1/4" Phenolic rod needed

Repairing a small AC/DC sw set and need to make a new tuning shaft.
Require 1/4" by about 3 1/2" long.  Nylon might work also.  Old shaft
was sheared off at retaining clip.  Got anything in the junk box?
