I've got one working now, built it about 2 years ago. I use it to
broadcast the output of my HRO to my upstairs bedroom so I can listen to
it on my bedside radio. I use a 6BE6 in mine, of course it requires a
power supply, but by using the mixer tube you eliminate most of the
frequency instability associated with modulating an oscillator. I never
turn it off and in the two years it's been on, I haven't had to adjust
the frequency but a couple of times!. It's on 530 KHz. I only have
about 10' of wire for an antenna, but I can hear mine all the way out to
my mailbox, about 150'
