Missed it!

     Visiting family in Springfield, Illinois, gave me the chance to go
to a hamfest in Taylorville, IL, this morning.  I got there about fifteen
minutes too late for the SX-101/HT-37 combo for $100...

     Well, I did come away with an S-40A and Globe Chief in very nice
physical condition - plus a one buck decent VOM (cost $3.50 for new
batteries).  Plus a (non-Hallicrafters) speaker in a box for 25 cents...

     So now I have parts for stations for my new novices and should have
them pon the air within a week (gotta get back home first), including the
T-50 from brother Ben K9KOM, and the NC-155 and Ranger I got at last week's
hamfest in Indianapolis.

     But still wish I had gotten there in time for the
HT-37 and SX-101...
