Headset help

[J. Forster]

There seem to be TWO types of WW II vintage  HS-30 headsets, a lightweight set
with single band and earplugs thet fit in the ear, and a prewar (?) design with
flying saucer type Bakelite ear flanges.

Anyone know what the story is on these puppies?
