Glad it arrived all right.
I was told that it added WWV reception for calibrating the calibrator.
Never tried it though.

Subject: NC-300 Mystery Mod
I received a crystal calibrator model # XCU-300 the other day. This goes
with the NC-300 receiver. This one appears to have a modification. I
downloaded the manual &
schematic and it shows the XCU-300 with 1 6AK6 tube which matches what
is currently installed in my NC-300 (appears home-brewed). The New
XCU-300 (factory stamped)
has some sort of MOD (smaller metal case bolted to factory unit) which
includes 1 - 12AT7 tube and 2 adjustable coils peaking out of the case.
Has anyone seen this MOD
before? Any ideas what it is for? The NC-300 rcvr itself has a 12AT7
tube which is the
s-meter amplifier and A.F. amplifier. Thanks for your thoughts - all
speculation welcome!
Paul
