Repairing bakelite

I have a early 1930's homebrew TRF receiver that has a 2" crack from one edge. The crack visually vanishes when its edges are pushed together.  Any ideas as to a reliable method to glue, fasten, or whatever the two edges together?  Many thanks, Joe k7mks
