Varian (Named for Russell and Sigurd Varian, inventors of the Klystron)
bought Eimac in the late fifties to broaden their offering of vacuum tubes
(mostly microwave) The tube business was located in Salt Lake (glass tubes),
San Carlos, CA (ceramic-metal tubes) and Beverly, MA (microwave devices) The
Company is now known as CPI and the glass tube business was sold to
Richardson.
