I've thought of another one which I have used successfully on Drake stuff, especially
for the meter lamp which I use no filter.  Craft stores have a paint that is used to
paint glass or clear plastic providing the appearance of stained glass.  The stuff
goes on like regular paint and as it dries it becomes clear (tinted in the color
selected).  The stuff is cheap (a couple a bucks per bottle) and will last you many
life times as it at least 4 or 5 oz.  Holds up really well under the heat of the lamps
envelope too!
