Hi Joe:
Assuming that the HFO is tuned to the high side of the incoming signal
frequency (which most are), the image would be at signal the frequency + 910
kHz.
If you're ever in doubt about this in the future, just remember that the
mixer will "see" signals at the local oscillator frequency, plus and minus
the IF. For example, when the receiver is tuned to 14.200 MHz, the LO will
be tuned to 14.655 MHz. Therefore, the signal freq is the LO minus the IF.
Unfortunately, the mixer will also "see" a signal at the LO plus 455 or at
15.110 MHz. That's the image frequency in this set-up. The tough part is
setting the LO on the correct side of the signal at 30 MHz - you really need
a counter, or a second, accurate receiver.
Hope this is clear.

Can anyone let me know whether the image frequency is to be 910 Kc ABOVE or
BELOW the frequency the set is tuned to. Hallicrafters manuals does not
indicate how to set the oscillator so the image is on the correct side of
the tuned frequency. Thanks, Joe k7mks
