Capacitors - In or Out?

I agree with others that those old caps should be out of the circuit before
they cause other damage or burst and make quite a mess of things. If you
want to do a authentic looking restoration, open the old cans and remove
their innards, put new caps inside and remount the cans. I have even done
this with old paper caps to keep the original look on vintage receivers.
