Hi Ted,
    One thing that wasn't mentioned, if you do use back to back xfmrs you
need to watch the power rating of each xfmr.  If your rcvr draws, say 80
watts, at 120v that's abt 3/4 amp.  But if you use 12v xfmrs, then the
secondaries are going to have to be rated for 120/12 x 3/4 = 7-1/2 amps,
with no "Kentucky windage" for losses.  That's a fairly husky xfmr.
