Filter cap question

Great question!

------

When I get an old radio, I routinely replace the electrolytics for fear they

have dried out over the years.

My question is: Does this only happen when the unit is unused? I use most

of my old stuff, and have for years, and some still have the original caps.

I make sure everything is used for a few days every few months. Will this

help them last longer, or should they be replaced periodically anyway?

Thanks!
