and 32V3s this weekend guys!!!
The Antique Wireless Association has announced an AM
operating event 2300 GMT Saturday to 2300 GMT Sunday
(February 26th-27th, 2005). "This is the first AWA on-air get-
together to be open to the general ham public," wrote Randy
Haus, KB2PLW, one of the organizers in a posting to the
organization's web page.
Frequencies: 3837 to 3885 Kc; 7270 to 7290 Kc and 14250-
14280 Kc.
The AWA has long gathered on 3837Kc for a weekly Sunday
afternoon vintage check-in nicknamed the AWA PM AM net.
Its popularity has prompted additional AM activity in this area
of the band, with people taking part in a variety of AM
roundtable QSOs during the weekend afternoons.
As the AWA expands the event to welcome more people, the
move is in keeping with a trend of people "discovering" AM by
pushing the button or hitting a menu tab on contemporary
transceivers, some of which rival old plate-modulated
transmitters for audio quality.
As such, operators with new and old equipment can be
expected to turn out and tune in.
