ARRL MUST GET BETTER

Bob,
I have paid for the last 20 years, and I am still paying. I have a right
to hold the league accountable don't I? I'm not a "Diamond club member" and
probably never will be. I put my extra cash into slightly more benevolent
charities. If my right to speak out is based upon my level of financial
support, then I am definately in the wrong organization. Finally, hams need
to realize that this is a hobby, and business interests WILL win out. The
war on BPL needs to be fought from a different perspective, which is why I
fight it as a MARS and CAP member, rather than a ham. The amateur rolls are
declining, the HF bands are becoming under utilized, what can a few hundred
thousand crazy nerds (myself included) do to prevent the inevitable?
Someone proposed I rethink my political idealogy based on one of my hobbies.
Scary. That dude needs to get out more! I do expect more out of the league
than it is delivering, it is painting the amateur more and more as a fringe
segment of society, much in the same way that the older NRA tactics did, and
the NRA is a much larger organization! I don't plan on abandoning my ARRL
membership anytime soon, but I reallyhope that someday they will see the
foresat for the trees.
vy73,
Scott KC7BGE/AFA6SJ
