Unknown Heathkit Receiver - in QST

There's an interesting article about this receiver in the May 1953 issue of
QST, on page 38. Lew McCoy shows how to modify it for amateur use.  Good
thing the one you found was left alone!!

Picked this up at a yard sale few months ago and finally got around to 
looking at it. I would assume it is a very early (late 1940's or early 
1950's) Heathkit receiver. The only marking on it is Heathkit Precision. 
It has 6 tubes, three bands, BC and two short wave bands with no BFO.
