CW controversy

I think the only thing it is going to accomplish is to tempt those "10-4
good buddy" buys on Channel 19, et al to try to memorize the answers to
the question pool long enough to get their license. And, we all know
from school days that you can retain memorization just long enough to
finish a test and then it all goes out the window .... and you dont know
or understand what the heck youre
reading anyway.
Then they can roam all over 10 meters ... and other bands .... with
their garbage like whistling and carrier throwing and other
tree climbing behavior unimpeded. If CW did nothing else it helped
filter out some of that element because to learn the code you
had to know what you were doing .... even at 5 wpm.
This is just a continuation of lowering the bar and "dumbing down of
America" .... and if facts were known, is probably mainly
driven by the alleged need for ECOM preparation. If the FCC and
Homeland Insecurity and Incompetence wants more
ECOM prep they could just as well camp out on Channel 19 or go back to
the old Channel 9 React days and enforce good behavior
there. There's no need to assist the immigration of bad behavior to
other frequencies. The FCC gave us hams five "channels" in
the 5 mhz band primarily for ECOM, they can enforce some rules again on
those other 40 channels in the 11 meter band.
