I dont think it's any less rational to think AM should be able to be 
used wherever than it is to believe that digital should only be used in 
a certain area, or cw, or ssb....    Just because it is just a bit wider 
in bandwidth shouldnt make it a bastard stepchild... or operators made 
to feel like a child molester at a family reunion....
Under that scenario, lets do away with or restrict severely everything 
except PSK because they are wider bandwidth and because they take more 
power to achieve the same result...
