Hello All,
I have recently re-capped and re-aligned an NC-183D receiver that I bought a
few years back. She is in beautiful cosmetic condition and deserves to be
brought back to factory new performance.
She plays beautifully except for one problem. The BFO (CWO) has a 'ripple'
on 20 meters. I don't know how else to explain it other than to say that
there is some sort of extrinsic oscillation or ripple on top of any received
SSB or CW signal on 20 meters. This is very mysterious because the unit
sounds just great on 80 meters and does not exhibit the problem on that
band.
All voltages check out OK at the V-9 CW Osc. tube and all the resistors
surrounding the circuit check out OK also. All pots and controls have been
cleaned and all tubes checked OK. All the paper caps. and electrolytics were
replaced including the PS can.
This has me stumped at this point as I am at the limit of my electrical
troubleshooting experience. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Alan WB2FZC
