I can think of another: the high bidder has the money and wants the
set to build, leave unbuilt, or whatever else. Money is no issue for
some, and for others, it's not the most important aspect of acquiring
a piece of gear or anything else they want. Perceived value being the
main example, this varies from individual and only matters to those
who like old radio gear.
As usual, the main focus for many is 'money', even though they didn't
buy the unit. I can't think of any piece of Heath gear I'd pay more
than a few hundred dollars for, mainly because it just doesn't excite
me much. Obviously the new owner feels differently, or they wouldn't
have bought it. Good for them.
Free enterprise, gotta love it...
