Heintz & Kaufman made a type 254, called a Gammatron, apparently a triode, 
good for 500watts, class C RF,  max freq 175 Mc, plate dissipation 
100watts,  amplification factor 25.  Dimensions 7 in hi, 2-1/2 in 
diameter.  Apparently H&K liked to bring the grid lead out thru a small 
diameter pin on the side of the tube. Data from a 1945 catalog sheet.
