HT-44 VFO drift

Gang,

This is a light Boatanchor, but...

I have an HT-44 which will drift about 700 cycles until warmed up for
about an hour. This isn't really a problem, I just let it warm up,
though the real problem is probably connected. I swapped VFO tubes with
no change.

The problem is when you key it, it starts about 100 cycles high and
takes three or four seconds to settle to frequency. In this unit, I
guess this means that the VFO is taking some time to get up to frequency.

Is there a common failure in the HT-44 I can look for? I'm afraid I'm
not enough of a technician to keep anything but my Ranger going.

If I can fix this, the HT-44/SX-117 will be 100%.

Thanks,
